Shropshires & Southdowns Showing schedule Thursday at 8:30 a.m. A O B, Border Cheviots, Montdales, Columbia, Correidales & Suffolks Entry Fee — $10.00 per class Pen Fee — $3.00 (1-3 head) Exhibitor Pass $25.00 Entries will be limited to available facilities. Classes without competition may be combined at the discretion of the superintendent. Ribbons presented 03 places. Registration papers and out of state health certificates are required of all animals in the various breeding classes. These papers must be checked by the Superintendent before unloading. Please refer to the section on “Regulations Governing Livestock and Poultry Exhibited in Illinois.” Association ear tags and/or private flock tags must be in place. Ear tag numbers must appear in the health certificates. Owner’s name must appear on each registration paper and health certificate. Exhibitors of purebred stock must show pedigree when required. One breed will be randomly selected. Purebreds and grades shall not be entered or exhibited in the same class. Removal of center panels is prohibited. Lambs born after September 1, may be shown in the under one year class provided they still have their lamb teeth. Judging will be done in accordance with breed association standards. An exhibitor attempting to interfere with the judge during their adjudications will be promptly excluded from competition. Exhibitors will be limited to two entries per class. All market lambs will be weighed between 4:30 and 8 on Tuesday night—must be slick shorn. OLD FLOCK: 1 ram, any age, 2 yearling ewes, 2 ewe lambs. PEN OF 3 LAMBS: Rams and ewes in any combination. Both sexes must be represented. No wethers. Ewe lambs may be shown in market classes. All sheep must be properly groomed and presented to receive premiums. Animals to compose a competitive group need to be entered in individual classes and kept in the same age classes throughout the show. If an early dismissal is to be honored, because of another Fair, the information must be supplied at the time of making entries. An early dismissal will automatically reduce the premium earned by 50%. Premiums will be as follows: In all classes except champions. First, $30.00; Second, $25.00; Third, $20.00; Fourth, $18.00; Fifth, $16.00. CHAMPION CLASSES—Ribbons and $20.00 will be given in each breed. Grand champion single market lamb and grand champion pen of markets $50.00; Reserve grand champion single market lamb and reserve grand champion pen of markets $25.00. A map showing location of assigned pens will be on display in sheep barn. Check location of pens before unloading and locate accordingly. This assignment must be SR. LAMB CLASSES—Ages for senior lambs will be Sept. 1 to Jan. 1 for Montadale, Columbians, Corriedale, Suffolk, Hampshire, Dorset & all other breeds; Sept. 1 to Feb. 15 for Cheviot, Oxford, Shropshire, and Southdown. JR. LAMB CLASSES—Ages for junior lambs will be January 1 and after for Columbians, Corriedale, Suffolk, Hampshire, Montadale, Dorset and all other breeds; Feb. 15 and after for Cheviot, Oxford, Shropshire, and Southdow

Premier Exhibitor’s Award—The Kane County Fair will award a banner in each breed to the exhibitor with the highest points based on individual classes (no group classes). 10 points – 1st place; 9 points – 2nd; 8 points – 3rd; 7 points – 4th; 6 points – 5th; 5 points – 6th; 4 points – 7th; 3 points – 8th; 2 points – 9th; 1 point – 10th. Sheep Lead-In Class 0424 Open + 4-HSuperintendent–Dick Getzelman Assistant Superintendent–Flo Getzelman Entry Fee – $5.00 Premiums will be as follows: First, $30.00; Second, $25.00; Third, $20.00; Fourth, $18.00; Fifth - Tenth, $10.00 CLASS 0424 SHEEP LEAD-IN Contest open to any individual or family interested in sheep. Contest will be split into two divisions if there are over 10 entries. Contestant must wear an outfit of at least 60% wool and lead a fitted sheep. Contest will be judged on outfit, poise and presentation and control of the animal. Entries should be included with other entries. Entries and resumes must be in superintendents hands by Thursday noon; otherwise they will be ineligible. Show 6:00 p.m., Saturday night. Preliminary judging at 5:30 p.m. Sheep Costume Class 0425 4-H OnlyEntry Fee – $5.00 Premiums will be as follows: First, $30.00; Second, $25.00; Third, $20.00; Fourth, $18.00; Fifth - Tenth, $10.00 CLASS 0425 SHEEP COSTUME CLASS Open to any individual or family interested in sheep. The purpose of this class is to get people involved with sheep and promote lamb and wool. The exhibit is to be judged on the attractiveness and originality of the costume and theme or idea presented. Any live sheep may be used in this class. Entries should be included with other entries in the sheep department. Entries and resumes must be in superintendents hands by Thursday noon; otherwise they will be ineligible. Show 6:00 p.m., Saturday night. Preliminary judging 5:45 p.m. |
