This is an Illinois Beef Association junior point show.
Registration papers and health certificates are requested of all animals in the various breeding classes. Each exhibitor must check these papers in the Superintendent’s headquarters before unloading. Please refer to section on “Regulations Governing Livestock and Poultry Exhibited in Illinois.”
Artificial color added to the hair is not permitted. Animals will be given a white towel
test as they enter the show ring. Judgment of superintendent is final. All cattle are to be washed on wash rack. Prizes will be awarded as follows:

Fat Stock Class will be weighed Wednesday, July 18 starting at 8:00 a.m. Fat Stock Classes will be Angus, Hereford, Shorthorn, and All Others. Weight Classes and breed characteristics will be determined by the Superintendent.
Any Hereford Steer that was purchased from a member of the Top Ten Hereford Association is eligible for this Class. A special certificate must be obtained from the breeder of your calf and presented at the time of showing to be eligible. These certificates may be obtained by the breeder through the Top Ten Hereford Association. No special entry is required on the Kane County Fair entry blanks.

Trophy and premiums will be paid by Top Ten Hereford Association.
All steers shown in this class must have Land of Lincoln papers or registration papers and be from Shorthorn Unlimited Breeders. There will be one class with premiums of $100, $90, $80, $70, $60, $50, $40, $30, $20, $10. Angus steers purchased this year and nominated by the seller to the Northern Illinois Angus Association are eligible to show in this special Angus steer class at the Kane County Fair

There are no entry fees. Entries will be made the day of the open steer show
No entry fee – The Dekalb-Kane Cattlemen’s association is sponsoring this class for locally bred and raised calves. To be eligible for this class, the calves must be locally bred and raised by a member of the Dekalb-Kane Cattlemen’s Association and shown by a junior showman 18 years old or younger prior to September 1, 2011. The calves also must be nominated by the breeder who raised the animal. Nomination forms are available at the Dekalb county farm bureau office or call Scott Horton at 630-365-1444 for more information. Nomination forms must be turned in with a nomination fee of $25 per animal by July 1, 2012 to be paid by the breeder of the animal and mailed to: Scott Horton, 825 Hicks St., Elburn, IL 60119. There will be one class open to both steers and heifers. Youth may enter the Kane County Class or the Land of Dekalb Class (at the Dekalb County 4-H fair), but not both. Premiums will be prorated according to the number of participants in each class. All monies collected will be applied to the premium. The Cattlemen's Association will supervise this class and will provide the top ranking animal with a plaque.
